IGNOU MLIS Admission 2025: The Master of Library and Information Science is a degree program offered in ODL (open distance learning) mode at IGNOU University. IGNOU offers admission to MLIS course in two academic session January & July in a year.

The last date is 15 February 2025 for IGNOU MLIS Admission January 2025 academic session. Indira Gandhi National Open University started the admission process for Master of Library and Information Science course under January 2025 session. Candidates can enroll by visiting to the official portal @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. 

The basic eligibility requirement for this program is a bachelor’s degree in Information Science or Library science or an associate degree from DRTC or NISCAIR. The registration fee is INR 300 and course fee is INR 11,100.

IGNOU MLIS Course Details

IGNOU MLIS program includes 8 core and 2 elective courses that offer a total of 40 credits. The subjects involved in this curriculum are, Information, Communication, and Society, Management of Library and Information Centers, Information Sources, Systems, and Services, Information Processing and Retrieval, Research Methodology, Information Storage and Retrieval, Advanced Classification Practice, Information Analysis and Repackaging, ICT Fundamentals, and so on.

The School of Social Sciences (SOSS) is the provider of this degree at IGNOU, and the medium of instruction is English. However, students can write their course assignments and term-end exams (TEE) in Hindi as well. The IGNOU MLIS provides ample opportunities for graduates. IGNOU MLIS one-year course has a total fee of Rs. 11, 100. Other than this, there are also the INR 300 registration and INR 200 development fees applied by the IGNOU university. Students can pay the registration charges when they register online or offline. The fee payment is easy, it can be done through net banking, credit or debit cards, and UPI, making it a super simple and safe transaction.

  • Here, click on the “Click here for registration” button to go to the registration page.
  • Enter the username and password, and make sure it’s unique. Provide your name if you are the applicant, a valid email address, and a mobile number. Now upon entering the verification code, click on “Register” to complete the sign-up process.
  • Once this is complete, get ready to log in using the registered username and password.
  • After logging in, you have to complete the online application, attach the documents, and make the payment using your preferred method of online payment, which includes UPI, net banking, credit or debit cards.
  • Apply for the course and you will get a notification on your email ID.
