The program is offered in open distance learning mode, which allows students to take part in the classes at the study centers of IGNOU. IGNOU PGJMC Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any subject. It’s also a requirement that the applicants must have knowledge of the English language and the ability to communicate in correct English.

Other than this, students must have a basic knowledge of computers, like software, the Internet and MS Office. These requirements indicate that the learners are expected to understand the foundation of Journalism and Mass Communication.

IGNOU PGJMC Course Fees

The program fee for one year is Rs. 12,500, and students can pay it in one installment. Additionally, students have to pay Rs. 300 as the registration fee.

IGNOU PGJMC Admission Process 2025

IGNOU admission process includes online and offline systems. The enrollment for the IGNOU PG Journalism and Mass Communication started for the 2025 academic session and will conclude on 15 February 2025. All eligible learners are requested to apply on the official website, ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in before the deadline.

Offline applications will require the submission of physical copies of the documents with the fees at a regional center. On the other hand, online enrollment is possible through the official portal and scanned soft copies of the necessary documents with the online payment of the fees.

  • A scanned signature of the candidate (Below 100 KB)
  • Identity and address proof and it has to be valid. (Under 200 KB)
  • A photograph of the candidate (Below 100 KB)

  • Category certificate (if any) (Under 200 KB)

Steps to Apply for IGNOU PG Journalism and Mass Communication Admission 2025

The steps require a few simple steps like registration, login, DEB ID creation, form fill-up, and fee payment. Applicants can complete the task in one sitting.

  • Open the preferred browser, there copy and paste the official URL ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in
  • At the left side of the page, click on the “Click here for new registration” button.
  • Enter the name of the candidate, set username, and password (the username and password should be 8 to 16 characters long and must be alphanumeric) provide the email address. Mobile number, verification code and click on the “Register” button to complete the process.
  • For the login step, provide the registered username, password, and captcha, and click on “Login” to verify the account creation.
  • Now, enter the required details in the online form, upload the soft copies, and pay the fee using net banking or credit and debit cards.
  • Make sure to save a screenshot of the payment.
  • After registering and applying for the course, students can apply for government-sponsored scholarships at the official portal, scholarships.gov.in.

Furthermore, students can refer to the YouTube videos for more information and detailed steps in the application. The videos are available in English and Hindi, so students can understand the content properly.

Also, if a candidate wants to cancel their application, it will not result in any type of refund. If such a thing is possible, it will be according to the rules of the IGNOU university. Students who are willing to cancel and have applied through the fee exemption method and requested soft copies of the study material will get a refund after the deduction of the development fee.
